Looks like you do not trust terminal and want to check if it does what you think it should. Therefore my suggestion would be to close nautilus and use '-v' instead. For example, "mkdir -v folder1", "mv -v folder1 folder2". Verbose applies to most if not all commands.

installing a program from a repository is as easy as it gets. I've used Windows for over 15 years and just installed Ubuntu for the first time yesterday. And I have to say installing apps is by far the easiest and coolest thing I've found about Linux so far. If you use a GUI like the Ubuntu Software Center you can find thousands of apps that you can install with 1 click. If you use the terminal and a repository it's just 1 line. If you're compiling from source it's still just a few commands.

Migrating to Linux was hard at first, then it because easier, and then it became awesome. Why? More control over my computer blah blah blah. You obviously don't know what that means, and there's no reason why you should. But to people who understand this, you're coming off like a bit of an asshat.

>>Have you ever easily installed anything?
Apt-get gives me incredibly easy access to tens of thousands of software packages, and I haven't typed in a 21-digit activation code in almost ten years.
I don't think Linux is inherently more complicated, but it seems that way because. Information on how to use Windows is all around you.

Linux is shit, dunno why everyones riding torvards and others banana. Everything is so much more complicated. Have you ever easily installed anything? And when you ask pple why its so cool theyre like ummmm, wellll you got good control of your computer blabla. Coders and other computer people just say they love it because its cool because its not microsoft. Just my 2 cents.Shannon could convince me otherwise.
