Archimedes is a balloon probe to Mars, built by the Mars Society of Germany. These were zero-g experiments (on a parabolic flight) between 28-30 June, 2005, in Bordeaux, France, using an Airbus A300. The aim was to test the release and inflation systems of the space probe. Since then, a succesful test in space was carried out (using a rocket). A final test is planned for March 2008, with a launch from Kiruna, Sweden.
