Perhaps you think that you can express yourself perfectly in the one language you know, but remember that Youssou is being interviewed here because of his masterly of not only English, Wolof and French, but rather for his command of the universal language called music.
He has touched millions the world over, many of whom do not even understand what the lyrics mean.

Hey, He is not an English neither was he from an English speaking country( British colonies) He is from Senegal., a French colony and his native language is Wollof which he can speak fluently. He can also speak French very fluently even though he did not went to school. His English too is pretty bit O.K . cos people can get what he is trying to say. He can speak three different languages likewise many people in states can speak only one language i.e English

fatraju, I don't know if you know the rules of islam or not, but Music is Haram in Islam, not allowed. Imagine he is mentioning Allahs name and played in a club, pple dancing drunk while they listening to this song someone mentioning Allahs name. Do you think is a good idea? if you use your descretion and let the religion out of the argument for a moment, is not going to make any sence.How 2 prais Allah is in the Qur'an, read the Qur'an every day, remeber your creater every minute and second.

With all do respect with the singer, the best African Musician I saw so far and impressed me is, Ali Fakr if I get the name right, from Mali. The other thing I want to make a comment is: keep religion and Allah out of the Music. You should express your opinion or religion in other way, other than songs. Thats only my opinion.

this man is one of the greatest 'social artist' i.e. artist using his talent for +tive social action! i'm very sure none of the 'critics' here have done even an iota of the work that this man has successfully done thru his music for the poor of the world (especially Afrika). in any case ur criticism of him r embarassingly hollow, ignorant n prejudiced! do the decent thing n examine ur own lives n what u can do for humanity rather bad mouthing those like him who r actually doing something!

I think his music does enough expressing for him. The guy should be an inspiration to many. For heaven's sake, he hasn't been to school or didn't make it past primary school. Do American pop stars speak French, ... and Wolof. Come on, cut the guy some slack.
