Oh, one other thing, if you noticed there are some slots under the active crafting action...meaning you can que up carafting actions. Meaning you can have him craft many hilts and such without you having to load one at a time. Another little handy aspect of the crew skills!

I love how the crafting and gathering skills work in this game. Allowing the companion/crew members to do all the work allows me to do what I want rather than wasting time at a vendor repeating the same thing over and over. I usually send my crew off on missions while I speak to NPC's and while in a group...it's real handy!
