In this movie, we learn that Mugsy's late father stretched the truth a bit. He told his rich, rancher brother that he had seven kids, including a daughter. Even after Mugsy's father died, his mother kept the lie going. After all, her brother in-law would send her $50 every year on the kids' birthday, and during the depression, that was a lot of money.
Now, Mugsy's uncle is in town, and wants to meet the whole clan. Since Mugsy is a good son that doesn't want anyone to make a liar out of his mother (including her), he has the gang pretend to be his siblings. This includes Limpy, whose chosen to be Annabelle.
My, but doesn't she look surprisingly nice as a girl?
The movie is titled The Clancy Street Boys, and is available on The East End Kids Double Feature Vol 1 at HoughsVideos.50Megs.Com
Is one of them pretending to be a sibling or part of Mugsy's family the black guy?

They're all pretending to be his brothers and sister. Mugsy's mom wrote her rich brother-in-law, saying that she had all of the kids. That way, every year he'd send $50 to each kid as a birthday present. And back before WWII, that was a LOT of money. Mugsy said that Sunny (the Black one)was adopted.

I didn't expect that. They broke a lot of rules with that scene. A man kissing a man. A white woman shaking the hand of a black man. A woman kissing a man who looks like a woman on the mouth. They got away with it?

They were one of the biggest hits of their era. They could get away with a few things that others couldn't. The fact that they were "kids" didn't hurt, either.
