I own this helmet and yes the cheek pads are removable. I am very happy with it and am sad I must replace it as a woman I know dropped it and I no longer have confidence in it :-( wish I could find another.

just bought a spare at walmart for $79. they had a copper or gold helmet for only $34!!! ony in XL tho.

Could be, the specifications and features can change over time. This one was purchased at Walmart, so may have been a cheaper version produced specifically for them. Read the full review on webBikeWorld for all the details.
