Very well done concise summary and key highlights on the XBR9 HDTV. Just purchased this set recently and simply can't say enough about its overall picture quality and performance in general. Have compared the XBR9 vs. the even more expensive XBR10 big brother and even those SamSung local dimming LED-LCD with 8.5M-to-1 Contrast Ratio, and the XBR9 easily managed to hold it's own, at least from my naked eye perspective, though the scientific lab may indicate otherwise. regardless, a superb TV!

What did you end up buying? Im looking at the 40Z5100. Its alot cheaper and has pretty much the same features.

the xbr9 are better
try to get the xbr8 is a lot similar and much bettern than 5100

z4500 and z5500 are the best! i own a plasma and i love it but the only lcd i could buy is this sony. best tecnology ever. even if it's new so we better wait for improvements
