Northeast Thailand rice farm. This farmer heard I was coming so he caught these two snakes and kept them for me to play with. He wasn't sure about my level of experience and therefore really wasn't comfortable with me taking them out. After a couple of minutes he could tell I had a little knowledge about what I was doing and his tension subsided.

  • Actually that farmer is my wife's uncle. In that particular village they do not eat snake. They believe that eating snake will cause something very bad to happen to a family member. The last time I was given some retic soup in another part of Thailand, I could not get my wife to try it(and she eats EVERYTHING lol). I haven't been back to Krabi in quite a while but I will keep you in mind. Thanks

  • I suppose they both won because after I was done the farmer released them back behind his rice farm near an irrigation channel.

  • i would be careful, it looks like Naja siamensis, which is a spitter... Does N siamensis live in that area? Cool krait btw...

  • @chiconspiracy ok thank you friend

  • @eddiesantiagojimenez

There is a photo of a monocled cobra, naja kaouthia eating the more venomous common krait. King cobras also eat them. I will try to find the photo for you. Cobras have larger fangs and could be resistant to their venom, or maybe they know how to grab them behind the head to avoid being bitten.

  • @chiconspiracy the krait is more powerful than the cobra

  • Most thais in the northeast cook those buggers up and have ngoo bping! BBQ snake. You saw him release them, or he told you that? lol. Nice video. If you come to Krabi, look me up at thailandsnakes (com) and we can go herp some. Cheers. Vern

  • WAUWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW NICE.

  • Lucky the krait didn't make a meal of the cobra
