Behind the scenes creation of the world premiere play First Class, poet David Wagoner's unique, insightful portrait of his friend and mentor, legendary poet Theodore Roethke. Master actor John Aylward (also seen on The West Wing and ER) gives a bravura performance as the charismatic poet in this voyage into the passionate heart-and art-of a genius. The play is directed by Kurt Beattie.

  • @wordsforthewind - This show was premiered in 2007 at ACT in Seattle. You might look around for other productions, I don't know if other theatres are producing it yet or not.

  • I'd love to see this play. Andy Rooney bloviates about cereal boxes and is famous. Theodore Roethke believed Moss-Gathering to be a desecration of the earth....Uh, Theodore who?

  • looks like john aylward is doing an impression of m. emmett walsh. i believe aylward played whitaker chambers but not 100%sure.

  • When/where will this play be showing? (I'm a huge Roethke fan, as the username suggests.)
