I've picked up one of these recently, it runs well but won't start electrically.
Do you know if the original setup had a relay in it? I just get a screech from it when i try to start, but the wiring definately isnt original. Any idea how to remove the starter motor, is it possible engine-in?

Gonna have to rebuild one of these soon, getting it for free. That runs great! these 8hp briggs never seem to run quite right, but this is damn good. Never have much luck with these big carbs though...
