Here's just a home video of my little bro and I showing how to tear down a Dodge Cummins to repair the KDP damage on my 24V.

  • The bolt next to the pin. Why can't a guy pull that bolt out and under that bolt install a flat tab of steel that would reach over to the pin area? That would keep that pin from coming out, Industrial loctite on the treads of that bolt and call it a day. I'm I missing something here? Thanks for any info.

  • @NyrocReno That's a proacvtive repair. I didn't do it, so that's why I had to replace the housing....

  • @GunShotWound308 depends... on the early 24 valve engines (1998.5-2000) had the kdp. cummins apparently tabbed the dowel pin from the factory after 2000

  • @GunShotWound308 the KDP mostly effects the 24 valves, while the 12 valves with the number "53" stamped on the block tend to crack and leak coolant.

  • Great videos! After I bought my truck I went to tab the KDP and found that it was missing and the timing case was cracked behind the fan mounting bracket where you couldn't see it, but now my headgasket is bad so I'm planning on doing the headgasket and timing case at the same time.

  • I thought the kdp was only on the 12v is it on the 24v as well? Great video btw

  • Great vid, thanks for all the info. I havent had my KDP come out yet, but Im not waiting any longer, gonna have it tabbed tomorrow.

  • @DRNEGOLICIS Check out my other video's. I've been pushing over 500rwhp since '05. Try to get 500HP, shoot, just try to get 500RWTQ out of a 6.5TD... Gonna take serious money. The design is a bit funky, but, no matter what kind of fuel, an inline will make more torque than a V at lower RPM. PLus, you benefit from having a "spare" Main bearing. 7 Mains, for 6 cylinders...

  • @purpleflavoredcherry i seriously doubt a little 6 cyl has that much verses a 396ci big block diesel i just never realy cared for cummins never liked the design

  • @DRNEGOLICIS But you wouldn't have 500rwhp and 1,000rwtq like my truck has....

  • @indiaispreet No. You have the updated gear housing.
