Open Forum: Are Children's Rights Merely for Show?
"Globalization" has failed to produce a general improvement in children's rights in many developing countries. Large parts of the local population do not benefit from (statistical) economic growth. Due to inappropriate economic policies, developing countries have further eroded their basic roles in education, public health, justice and security. Humanitarian organizations have experienced that globalization worsens the situation.
The agenda points are:
1) What is the "hidden" face of globalization regarding children?
2) Is this situation a fatality?
3) What are the roles of the state, private sector and civil society?
