Stapleford Miniature Railway near Melton Mowbray Leics UK running montage taken during the August 2010 Open Weekend
The railway only opens in Mid June and end of August BH as part of charity steam rallys. All 5 locos feauture in this montage around the station and tunnel. Note that the Jubilee was out of action from 2009 and not expected back till 2012. Locos featured are the 4-6-0 GWR Saint paired with the 4-4-2 Atlantic John H Gretton, 4-8-4 NYC Niagara, 2-8-4 NKP Berkshire and the Vulcan foundry 31 class East African railways "Uganda 2-8-4 "

  • I was wincing at 3:56- it looked like that lass was a second away from a broken elbow.

    This (and other footage) reminds me of an episode of The Avengers. It's a long time since I saw it but the final showdown takes place on a miniature railway with, IIRC, Mrs. Peel tied to the tracks in front of an oncoming train pulled by what I remember as a 9F.

    Was that filmed here? It looks the right scale.

  • @TimRuffle yes all the railway scenes were filmed at Stapleford using the Curwen Atlantic "Blance of Lancaster", twin sister to our current Curwen Atlantic "John H Gretton" and last based at Trago Mills

    If you visit our website fsmr.org.uk. there is a page about the "Gravediggers" episode and links to the official Avengers website wheich has more detail on the filming. There was a clip of the episode posted by someone on youtube but for a while it was removed under copyright.

    next years dates are 18th 19th June and 28th 29th August (Sun BH Mon) 2011

    Sorting out loads more uploads of the railway and also the GCR in 1990

    Just wishe di had a cam in 1964 when i lived next to the GCR at Birstall (i was only 2 though LOL)
