For many years, I had been saying It will be great if our still cameras shot moving pictures like a video, in 1999 I did a small presentation at one of my seminars where I actually mixed stills with my own video footage, I shot with a hand held video in one hand and my Canon over my shoulder and switched between the two during the wedding location session.

The result was FANTASTIC, but the work was hard.

I dont wish to eliminate a videographer at all, but capturing moving moments the way I see it and mixing with my still images is yet another form telling the story as I saw it.

I had also wanted to experiment and make a VERTICALLY captured video, and using a wideangle lens, to capture the church or other backgrounds vertically. Finally, my wants became a reality!! At the end of last year Canon, delivered my dream camera with HD video. The Canon EOS 5d mark II.

Yes, In December I shot a wedding both in stills and in moving pictures VERTICALLY!!

I believe this has NEVER been done, not in wedding PHOTOGRAPHY for sure!!

The hardest part was to show the Vertical video on a horizontal screen, many experts said it could not be done unless we turn the TV screen vertically & edit the movie with our head tilted. I challenged this and here is the first experiment, I know my video editing is not the best but hey, it worked!!

Soon, I will have more samples on my Blog www.yervantblog.com and will show you how I managed to rotate the movie for a horizontal screen.

  • Dude, can you tell me what software did you use in producing this magnificent masterpiece?

  • Just imovie & photoshop.

  • The video is annoying and there's a lack of editing skills exhibited here. It's a mish-mosh of special effects and supers over video. Some of the stills are nice, but please stick to photography. The music drones on for too long and the piece should be cut down to about 2 minutes. Sorry, I couldn't find a "magnificent masterpiece" here.

  • Awesome pictures!!

  • oh man! what piece of crap!

  • The word in spanish for this video is NACO

  • don't like the music...!!!!

  • Masterpiece? Too many of those "crooked" shots, poor composition and man, keep it simple ! Geez, too much use of your toys/gadgets. Reminds me of a "Third world country" and their cars; full of reflectors, tassels hanging and basetube bumping...
