I'm wondering why he turned off the machine before disengaging the spindle speed my old appentice trainer would have given me a bollocking for that one!

@GeneralG1810 We've got one very similar to this in our shop, it's a wonderful machine even though it's had some very heavy use over the years, best lathe in the shop. They were built to high standards by knowledgeable people who took pride in their work, I bet none of the stuff they're making today will still be going strong after fifty years.

Oh that takes me back I used to use a DSG at Garden Island in Sydney where I did my apprenticeship. Theyre a great machine tones of grunt and very reliable. I actually preffered it to the Beauringer (I think thats how its spelled) machines that were in the shop, they had a joystick type of feed lever which I didnt like because if you pulled to hard to disengage it it would feed the opposite direction and give you a backcut mark. THese old machines are just better than the new crap of today
