The botanical gardens in Sydney is for thousand of years the home for these fruitbats.
Nothing will chase them away, even not the surrounding high rise buildings of the city.
They smell like hell , but they are protected species.
In the darkness, you can tell by smell if there is a fruibat in that tree....

Brisbane have theirs too and they fly out at dusk from their hidings along the river feasting on my papaya and/or banana trees, if they get the chance...

It is said that they were the contributers to the flora of the remote islands in the Pacific ocean.
