Edifyingly titled jig. I don't know where these titles come from..... certainly the music doesn't suggest smashing a window - not to me anyway!

  • Oh! That's right, with a pan pipe being so mellow the thought would not cross one's mind; but with tin whistles it does. I don't play inside as I live with my brother & his wife & dog; but in their basement. Still, to be considerate I play outside so maybe that's why I think of tin whistles figuratively in the way one could with humor say "I play so high with this one I thought I'd 'Smash The Windows'!" ha! I listen to your talent often and book mark it. Pan pipe is very unique & difficult.

  • One of the advantages the panpipes do have is that it is possible to play the high notes more softly than seems possible (from my experience) with flutes, pennywhistles & recorders. You need that extra space outdoors for the notes to breathe in.

I'm delighted to have a regular listener; I hope you've noticed some of the later recordins I've posted with better audio quality. :-)

  • HI Again! I listen to this often and was thinking about the title too and how it defines the tune. My only guess is that the tune has a climbing from low to high in one stanza and I wonder if with sense of humor one plays so high it could "smash the windows". Just a guess.

  • Hello again! :-)

It's an interesting idea you have about the title; certainly more than I'd come up with. I imagine on a pennywhistle or recorder those high notes would be quite shrill!

  • a really good one, congratulations!

  • Thank you! :-)

  • Thank you! You're right about the difficulty; things like Jigs, Reels and Hornpipes aren't very 'idiomatic' for the panpipes, but I like a challenge. ;) (And they SOUND good on the panpipes, which is what is important. :) )

  • Very nice to hear a jig on a pan flute, very difficult to play a jig on, more so than on a tin whistle. It's both unique and beautiful to hear. I can tell one who is very connected to their music as it is done with such uplifting emotion. You are very talented! THANKS!

  • nice music.
