In a quick interview backstage @ Rock The Bells NY we caught up with the legendary DJ Premier. We managed to get a couple quick words of wisdom out of the hip hop production icon. Like it says in your comments -- the word of Premier is hip hop gospel.

I will say, I agree with premiers answer to sampling being dope 100%. Anytime one produces an instrumental, and samples, he/she should at least give credit to the original artist(s) that made the sample.

he's been around and will be around for much more. I know what you mean though. It might be a strange thing to ask of the hiphop artistes that we love, which is to take care of your health guys. We want you around for a long long time. We dont wanna hear of our favorite DJs getting heart attacks and strokes.
