The bad line output transformer of the prewar tv set Marconi 707 from 1938 was rewound by Ed Dinning. Now the tv set has full line width and correct linearity. Meanwhile, the radar tube could be replaced by a television tube for improving the picture quality, a courtesy of Steve McVoy. A BBC broadcast from 1936 is on display and a scene from the end of 405 line tv transmission in Britain in 1985.

  • How are you feeding it the picture signal?

  • Cool TV and a BBC newsreel. I always thought this was one of the nicer-looking British television sets. It's "portable" too! Check my You Tube page for 1939 US sets. The British did indeed have the 1st regularly scheduled TV service, starting in Nov. of 1936 with the BBC in London. The US had a few stations on the air sporadically with RCA leading with Dumont, GE, Philco, and Don Lee also contributing. April 1939 it went commercial. We had multiple stations and the 1st channel changer.

  • interesting see also the complete comands (volume, synch , tunner...

  • I would trade my children for this tv. Well, almost.
