I think this song was written in 1941 by Tom Adair and Matt Dennis.

Sinatra was Tommy Dorsey's "male vocalist" from 1940 through '42, 'audavnc'. Bob Eberly was Jimmy's featured vocalist at the time....
-
Heads up - I believe it was the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra that Sinatra sang with. My mom was a Dorsey/Frankie fan way back when.

@popcornluver134 Guess what? I'm not 14 - far from it - but dig this - when I was 14, I liked Frank Sinatra, too. So,

@deroiste16 Fuck yeah 1991!!!!!

Recorded on February 7, 1941, and one of Sinatra's most haunting ballads with the Dorsey band...

@antilego1self, no question about the voice (although in my opinion not to the level of Evis Presley's), I just don't see him as good looking. Dean Martin, now there's handsome.

@jillkristin He had charisma, blue eyes and an overpowering voice.
Love Frankie in his Tommy Dorsey era, but I cannot for the life of me see his "attractiveness" as far as looks go. Sorry.
And how a truly gorgeous woman like Ava Gardner could find him the love of her life is beyond me.
He sure could sing a love song though.

Rumour has it that he had very big feet as well as his golden tones! ;) lol
