Alum Creek Beach in Lewis Center Ohio - Kids playing boats in background

Alum Creek Beach is as close as we can get to a beach, in the Columbus Ohio area. My family enjoys going to Alum Creek Beach more than a local swimming pool because there's a lot more room to play than at the pool. We can bring beach toys, boogie boards, balls and sand toys. I can get my "beach bum" fix hanging out in my beach chair under the umbrella while watching the kids play and boats sailing by.

Hoover is pretty, but as far as I know, you can't swim in the water there. You can boat and fish but I think they have limits on how fast the boats can go. So for water skiing, jet skiing, etc. you'd have to go to Alum Creek.

would you prefer Alum Creek State Park or Hoover Reservoir Park? in terms of family-oriented and excellent sports fishing. I go to OSU but haven't been to these two lakes. For now, I only hear more about Alum. So what's your take?
