  • @peewit123 what happened to bobby? i worked with a willie coghill in the late seventies on various contracts with tractor shovells

  • was bobby coghill willies brother ?

  • Bobby was also an excellent accordionist and had his own dance band. It is so sad that his life was cut short during what should have been a routine operation. He is missed by many people, myself included.

  • superb

  • It features Bobby Coghill, frae Wick, get our surnames spelling right.

  • The best ever, fantastic to see lads again,

    Norman

  • Dark Island (aka Dark Isle) lyrics by Stewart Ross (C) 1963 PRS registered. Excerpt first verse and chorus.

In the years long gone by when I first left my home. I was young and I wanted the wide world to roam. But now I am older and wiser you see - for that lovely dark island is calling to me.

Though I've wandered away from the land of my birth, and been roaming around to the ends of the earth. Still my heart is at home in a land far away that lovely dark island where memories stray.

  • I re-iterate this is not a traditional song - but uses copyright lyrics by Stewart Ross and a tune in which the copyright belongs to the late Ian Maclachlan and Westminster music. It does not use the lyrics of David Silver.

The stories that this version is banned were falsely circulated by Mr. Silver in November 1988.

Pressing details for Colorado's release make it clear that further pressings took place. I have a letter of apology from one newspaper for its quotes. Alan Ross

  • This uses part of the Stewart Ross copyright lyrics to the tune.

"in the years long gone by.....lovely dark island where memories stray. This was written in Inverness and published in sheet music back in 1963 and also copyrighted in a recording by Argo Cameron. Unfortuntately a dispute arose over the origins of the tune - however the group then known as Colorado illegally used these words. Calum Kennedy, Fiona Kennedy and others also accidentally breached my father's copyright.

  • this is amazing.
