A demonstration video made for Twitter support, describing how leaving a Twitter client running overnight, but not active on a popular Twitter list will leave a 'gap' of older tweets that can no longer be accessed through infinite scrolling.
Cached data from the last time you looked at the list immediately follows the first fresh batch of tweets that are retrieved once you switched back to the list, with no more attempts via infinite scrolling made to let you catch up on any further tweets made since the last time you looked at the list.
The same problem exists in the official iPhone and iPad Twitter clients. Right now, the solution is to fully restart the app the next day, to clear out any cached data from a Twitter list.
The same problem can appy to viewing your main Twitter stream too.
Update: Twitter's Loren Brichter responded by saying 'I'll think about transparent ways to fix. Worst case we might just have to drop those cached tweets and reload fresh.'.
