looked like the crown mines, with wheal owl and wheal edward on the hillside. There is a small plaque on a stone behind wheal owls.

My family worked there, my Great Grandfather lost his hand and badly damaged part of his mouth in the disaster.
My uncle worked in the last Penwith mine Geevor.

Yes it's sad that there is no mining in Cornwall anymore and in an area where the wages have always been some of the lowest in the Country and where property prices are some of the highest in the Country...in the past Cornish miners would emigrate to all parts of the world to a working life underground...PHM
