@ShowMeConservatism That's really what I love about Scrubs. It's characters aren't your typical one-sided comedy characters, but in the moments like this, it's clear there's so much more depth to them and they look more like real people. That's why I love Scrubs, because it actually treats its characters with respect and turns them into actual human beings.

Little things like this episode, how he treats Ted at the end, and pretty much his interactions in episodes that follow are why I like Kelso's (and Cox's) character. They are hardasses from the old school who have to keep that gruff exterior to keep sane (and, once again, they are from a past generation), but you can tell in little encounters like this that they are good guys and that they care deeply about what they do. It's depth like this in all its characters that makes me love Scrubs.
