Fields of Gold: Lifting the Veil on Europe's Farm Subsidies

A short film (6 minutes) telling the story of how a small group of European journalists, researchers and computer programmers uncovered the secrets of the European Union's 55 billion euro a year common agricultural policy. In the process they revealed the extent of corporate welfare and large handouts to some of Europe's wealthiest landowners.

This is a short version of a longer (18 minute) film which is also available online, including subtitled versions in English, French, German, Spanish, Romanian and Italian.

Regarding the European referendum in the UK MPs receiving the single farm payment should have declared a declaration of interest and abstained from voting.

It is reported that Richard Benyon MP has received over £2million in subsidies on his 20,000 acre estate.

Why do you people always want to pick on farmers? Don't you realise that subsidies are for the public to get cheap food? Farmers don't want them we'd rather have a fair price for our produce. Goverments want subsidies so they can control farmers. Why don't you go find out how much public money is wasted by local councils and hospitals.
