The abduction of Marie Didieu is only the latest in a growing list of attacks occurring near Kenya's border with Somalia. Policing the porous Somalia border remains a headache for security forces. Are the countrys' defence forces doing enough to protect Kenya's territory. Rita Tinina reports on the role of the country's defence forces and why Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni once termed the Kenyan military as a career army.
Our military is like a show of force, not real force.
If we continue suffering while they continue being ceremonial, what will be thier value.
It is about time the military became hands on

July 9th-Oct 4th 2011is a long time of freedom and somebody dare refer to my sovereign nation as Sudan. That is an insult on me and my country folk. The editors clearly did an great job. NTV take note. The country to the NW of Kenya is called the Republic of South Sudan and not Sudan. And somebody get those Fanya Fujo Uone men to man the Somalia borders please. This Al Shabaab menace is becoming a big pain.

Our police forces are misused. During last weeks AFC vs Gor match there were 300 police officers available. While at the borders against Somalia there were how many ? Our govts prioritises are all wrong.

@siasabora When pirates in canoes can invade our country, kill our citizens, abduct our visitors and destroy our multi billion shilling tourism industry, then there is no way I can call these pockets of insurgency, jobs will be lost, our GDP will go down and damage internationally is irreversible. This is huge, our military needs to get upo its lazy butt and fight these invaders with all its mights. Whats the point of colourful military parades if Kenya is being seen as a soft touch?

70% of our national budget goes to the defence department and our military is only good for showing off during the national celebrations. Good ate lying idle and getting fat in the barracks and Fcuking useless in defending us from our daring neighbours.
