DISCLAIMER: I acknowledge that people hold strong beliefs about some of these questions. I'm not saying one is better than the other or that the two options are necessarily comparable. Just that I've noticed that people tend to prefer one over the other. That is all.

1. emacs (vims editing mode is slighty better, but emacs is very easy to extend and has a much better (imo) script language)

3.C/C++, i would code in Prolog before i would use Java :)

6. gnome :-D (but i use Qt on a daily basis, if you would have asked for GTK vs. Qt i would have said Qt :-))

vim... But actually I use Kate mostly :p star wars... but the latest star trek movie looks good C... but what I really like is Python :P reddit... deb... yes. KDE... for sticking their necks out, copping the flak and pushing the free desktop forward virtualbox... I can't afford vmware MySQL... not that I really have a preference Desktop... don't really have a need for a notebook right now iPhone... whats a blackberry ? ;) iTunes... or Amarok :)
