This piece has always been evocative of death and paradise to me, and the clarity of the notes and the style brings the first and last segments through beautifully. It is magnificent, my favorite of tristesse on youtube. I can listen to it over and over. Thank you.

@gnatural Thank you for asking. The piano is now fully restored. It looks and sounds just like Mom would have loved to see and hear it. The unveiling was two weekends ago. The house was full with family, neighbors and freinds from various corners of my life. I was nervous when I played and it showed. My friends' 8 y.o. daughter wowed them playing "Meet the Flinstones". My instructor made the piano sing like it hasn't in 30 years. When she played this piece there were several pairs of teary eyes.

My mother loved to play this piece. I think she played it in a competition as a teenager in Birmingham, AL. It's been almost 30 years since I last heard it on her piano which I am now having restored - and my piano instructor has agreed to play this etude at an unveiling party. I can't wait to hear this once again played on Mom's Steinway. But thanks for posting this now.
