Suzanne Haïk-Vantoura, LA MUSIQUE DE LA BIBLE REVELEE, VOLUME 2 (Alienor 1050 CD, 1998).
Some of the Psalms make mention of special instruments in their headers, such as *ha-Gittit*. The melodies that Mme. Haïk-Vantoura has reconstructed for such Psalms suggest possible timbres or tone colors for such instruments. If one has the opportunity to visit a shop that sells folk harps made by various luthiers out of various woods in various pitches, he has opportunity to try different Psalms on different harps with different tone colors. "The Gittith", as Mme. Haïk-Vantoura noted, seems to have been an instrument with a bright tone color; a Celtic harp made out of white maple sounded ideal as accompaniment to this Psalm. By contrast, Psalms 24 (which makes no special mention of instrumentation in its header) sounds best when accompanied by a Celtic harp made of some dark hardwood such a walnut or (better yet) bubinga.
