The historic gem known as Hazard Castle proudly presides over 38 acres along prestigious Ocean Road. As the centerpiece of this complex, Hazard Castle features gables, turrets, and a striking 105 foot tower. This structure is considered one of the most significant historic buildings in seaside Narragansett, Rhode Island. Joseph Peace Hazard began construction of this distinctive stone structure in 1846. The Hazard family was among the early settlers of Rhode Island and was involved in the textile manufacturing trade. Joseph Peace Hazard was one of the first to see the potential of nearby Narragansett Pier as a popular resort.
Purchased by the Catholic Diocese from the Hazard family in 1951, the property has most recently been home to the Our Lady of Peace Spiritual Center. The expansive, private setting offers numerous potential opportunities including a family estate, boutique commercial use, or land development.
