  • did you guys bleed them out properly? I didn't see any gills cut. This will be some bloody fillets! :(

  • @ljalaska Yes, we bleed them before they come in the boat and then put them on ice! Its the only way to go!

  • @ljalaska For everyone who doesn't realize, we edit out the bleeding part to make the video faster. Also, no one likes to see blood. This was one of the boats I used to fish and we would bleed the halibut when it was still in the water. You can bleed them out when they are in the cooler, though it tends to make a bit of a mess. I like the fish looking nice in the cooler on a bed of ice. Now I fish with a boat the has holds where we bleed the fish.

  • Wow! Nothing like a double eh! Looks like a lot of fun and many healthy and delicious meals. Sam, you look like the best guide in the Pacific and I can't wait to go out. For sure 2011!!!!!!

  • @teamlosi11 Hi Joel, thanks for the nice compliment. Its always fun talking about fishing with you. Have a great day!

  • I absolutely love fishing in the Ucluelet area for Halibut. I truly believe it is one of the best places Ive even had the experience to fish in my life time for fast pace Halibut. Ive fished here in my home state of Washington and for years in Alaska for halibut. But for some reason the halibuts just taste alot better out of Ucluelet waters especially around the 25-35 pound range. Once again his is just my opinion.

    Thigh line forks, Calvin

  • How often do you come up?

  • @Mitchisdatwitch12 I use Shimano reels or Penn reels. The Shamano reels are usually pretty good though there have been some problems with some of the new ones.

  • @AllCricketTalk You just cut the gills.

  • Can someone explain to me how to bleed a halibut?

  • Whats the name of the reel that you were using?

    Thanks.

  • is this guy raymond from the tv show everybody loves raymond

  • @monki600 No but big halibut will knock you on your ass or in the water. Even little 30-40#'s can be a handful.

  • @salmoneye88 theres always a know it all.. They look delicous, ive never tried one before, but they look slightly siminlar to a flounder.., and they rock my world.

some american guy in australia was telling me that they had to shoot the halibut in the head before bringing in on deck.., hes reasoning was that they will start thrashing around and have been known to crack glass boats and send them down?
