  • @jackstpaul "Fogelberg's best, maybe, but Souvenirs is close," with which I totally agree. "Homefree," never has gotten it's due. Incredible work for an artist so very young.

But, "Captured Angel," still ranks high among all of Dan's work for me.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 Homefree is an incredible album. Fogelberg's best, mabye, but Souvenirs is close. And he was a great, underrated musician, too. Great guitarist.

In conclusion, I suppose I could have written that some of Fogelberg's 'later,' string arrangements, especially on his, "Captured Angel," album, beginning with "Aspen," but also from Dan's first, and overlooked album, "Home Free," released, as you wrote, in '72, remind me of Neil's string arrangement on this song, making my point more clear, at least chronologically. But in the end, I was 'complimenting,' both.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Have you read, "Shakey?"

    Peace.

Of course. Actually Neil is one of what I call my personal "Fab Four," with Neil, Dan, J. Browne, and one of the original 'fab four,' George Harrison. (One only needs to look into my favorites to see many video's from each, although I tend to 'favor,' Neil.

But in reply to your question, Bruce Palmer's, one of the original members of Buffalo Springfield, legal issues with drugs, and deportation gave Neil time to complete and release this album in late '68.

  • @rockinroller7 You do realize that this was 4-5 years before Fogelberg's first album, or don't you?

  • @jccusell Yeah, I'm aware of Nitzsche's early involvemenr with Neil, but didn't know he did this. Thanks.

And you are definitely right; Neil still rocks!! Very much!!

    Peace.

Actualy Jack Nitzsche arranged this and many other string parts fot Niel (and other artists obviously) In Fact these score was written by Nitzsche as well. But Neil still rocks though lol !

  • With deepest respect to Neil, this string arrangement reminds me of some of Dan Fogelberg's work.

    Simply Beautiful.

    Peace.
