Reading some of these comments is hilarious. Did any of you actually think the Volta was going to write only avante-guarde material? Give me a break. every musician needs to groove. They're on a journey, playing the music they want. And believe me, that drummer is there because they want him there. Remember, this band started with 2 guys who left a band just as it was getting ready to blow up: they do things their way. Personally, I LOVE the groove this stuff has.

Watching these guys play with this drummer is like watching a coke head trying to get the same high with a pot of coffee.

that drummer does not fit in the style of the mars volta

@Kacopch Yeah, but they're getting way more comfortable with Elitch, and yeah, he's no Pridgen, but he's still pretty fucking good. Neither of them are as good as Jon Theodore though.

@GinoCloudWatcher maybe there just tired of playing for critics.

These guys aint what they used to be..
omar just looks over it, this new drummer is kinda too cocky looking, cedric is not as energetic as he used to be, but ikey coo, he my nigga!
-
way better imo

I miss pridgen alot. i dont think they will be able to find a drummer who's better than him.

great song, the new drummers really wailing on the skins
For anyone hating on TMV for a 'lack of intensity' at their live shows, these guys nearly killed themselves on the 'Goliath' tour performing 3 hour shows every night for over a year so they toned it down a bit this time around. They are still young guys and Omar has 15 albums worth of music in his head to record and has said he loves live performances...but I think it says a lot about a bands success if people are already debating drummers and live shows after 7 years and 5 albums.
