This is how you replace the woofers on the Alesis M1 MKII Monitors. Buy the replacement woofer from Thomanns and DO IT YOURSELF! Alesis charge you silly money for a 10 minute easy job.
You helped me save $100 in labour. I bought a pair of replacements from Electric Factory(in Melb, AU)
I only replaced 1 and there is a subtle difference in the sound(new woofer V old woofer). A little run-in time and they should match again. I didnt feel it was crucial enough to replace both at the same time.
So cool of you to post. I agree, it is ridiculously easy to open it up and put back together. I would like to change it to a SEAS or Scan-Speak driver. Did you try any other drivers before choosing the original?
Thanks munkybarf!!

BTW, that is a sweet soundtrack:-)

one of my M1 speakers has got a really crunchy / farty sound - it sounds awful now. Assume that this is a broken woofer?

do you have a link to where you can buy the replacement driver online?

is it really necessary to take the back off and amp out? is there enough slack on the + &- connections to do it all through the front?

@snolan1990
that works but its not ideal.
ideally you would need a outboard soundcard (usb for example) or a pci soundcard. The L > R outputs then go into each speaker respectively.
