@LvDaMuzic I think you misunderstand his meaning when he said Europeans discovered Machu Pichu. If Europeans discovered Machu Pichu then its means they found something new to them. It doe not mean that the local people did not know about Machu Pichu. Of cause the local knew about it and so for the locals you can’t discover something you already know about. I hope you see the point I am trying to make.

@LvDaMuzic Could you find a quotation where he affirms this? You can't just make blanket generalisations without backing it up. Do so and I'll listen, otherwise I'll just stay deaf.

Sorry to say that this steam train is out of operations due to damaged tracks and security concern in the region.....!

Does this line still have steam power in use? Looks like a beautiful steam powered train ride, I'd like to visit.

Palin isn't an intellectual. Watching his videos exposes his stereotypical view of non western societies. He is simply any other traveller who gets his travel expenses paid, and happens to be a British with high paying job at BBC. The funnies part was that he said europeans discovered Machu Pichu as if there are no human live in Peru. real ignorance from a travel journalist.
it is pakistan mate. dont kid yourself ;)

@LvDaMuzic, Michael Palin meant that Europeans discovered Macchu Pichu after it was abandoned. At the time of European contact in Peru, the city was already deserted for unknown reasons. Neither the local Peruvians or the Spanish knew it was there. A European did indeed re-discover it.
I think Palin is actually pretty knowledgeable and think he does a good job of being respectful in his travels.
