Russian junk "warship" on fire in the Pacific ocean

Sep 18 - A fire on a Russian warship in the Pacific kills two sailors and about 15 million Russian Ruble damage caused, the latest in a series of accidents that have raised doubts about the safety of Russia's fleet.

The fire occurred on the large anti-submarine ship the Marshal Shaposhnikov ( http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%88%D0%B0%D0%BB_%D0%A8%D0%B...) ).

Navy officials said they suspected the fire broke out in the engine room when an oil pipe ruptured during a naval exercise in the Sea of Japan.

@PlayF00tball Aircraft Carriers project incredible air power over a wide area. It is foolish to say they are useless. If the US wanted to, it could raze Gadhafi's Libya with the combined air power of just a handful of carriers. You can't get within 200 miles of a carrier group without being dead or authorized.

@PlayF00tball No I have to disagree with you that aircraft carriers are useless, because they bring alot more to the fight including extending time on target! And you can park them off any coast if the US planes would have to do air refuels from bases it also extends the time the crews are in the air! US tried that concept when reagan attacked Libya back in the 80's using f-111's from UK the flight was extended by 12 hours. Besides the United States does not have 180 over seas bases.

This isn't 1942. Russia's been selling their carriers to anyone stupid & wasteful enough to buy them. Aircraft carriers are absolutely useless, pure psychological warfare. They are the most vulnerable targets in war, unless you're fighting Lebanon but guess what, modern jets can fly long distance, but they don't even need to do that with all the bases the US has in (180?) countries. That junk is doing nothing but contributing to plastic oceans and the military-industrial complex.
