This particular tape was not only the final tape of the year for BBC2 but it also completed the quartet of new tapes introduced, and this replaced Belle Canon on exactly the same day as House Of The Rising Sun, namely 30th December 1983.
This tape was also used as a regional opt-out tape. It was nice to hear it coming in with the PM5544 unexpectedly, outwith it's normal playing sequence. Also used in the regional opt outs was COUNTRY EXPRESS. The opt outs also gave us a nice chance to hear these tapes on the "wrong" channel!
The opening track really does say a lot about how the rest of the tape will pan out. This is another of my personal favourite Ceefax tapes. The 'Charles Francis' strings, surely this is just Frank Chacksfield in disguise? If I'm right, his middle name was Charles (Francis Charles reversed!)
As this tape was used from 30.12.83 – 15.10.85 would it be that Testcard F with the double BBC2 logo can be used also?

Yes the beginning of track 3 is rather like MASH.
Track 4 is one of the best tunes I ever heard on Ceefax!

Track 3 remind you of anything? Theme from Mash maybe? I'm going back a few years but it is very, very similar ;-)
