This is the ORIGINAL MONO MIX that sounds so much better than the wimpy stereo mix!
This is EXACTLY as it sounded when this record was a hit on the radio!
This mix is NOT available on iTunes, nor is it ever heard on today's oldies radio.

Most of the original mono 45 mixes were actually released on the CD compilation "Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story" in 1993 on MCA. Family of Man, Joy To the World, Liar and Shambala were especially superior in these mixes. Of course the collection is out of print, but if you can find it it's worth picking up. It also includes some rare b-sides, choice LP cuts and early Danny Hutton and Cory Wells pre-3 Dog Night material, as well as the Brian Wilson-produced Time to Get Alone.

@lonlinke The purpose of 3 dog night was to have 3 lead singers with 3 times more hot moves with the mike wire

This is the perfect way to re-live the music...saw 3 dog night, once in concert, doobie brothers, 3 times...mostly it was records and 8 track "quadraphonics....VERY COOL for the times!

This was one of the last tunes by these guys I really enjoyed (Some of Paul Williams' best lyrics ever!) before they began moving away from Rock towards a more (unintentionally) unfocused Pop direction--they still found good songs, but music was changing faster than they could keep up with, or the times changed and left interpretive acts like them behind--it's difficult to pinpoint exactly why they became less interesting after 1972, but for their first four years, they were on top.

Glad to see you back. Always nice to see and hear the correct versions of these songs which as usual blow away the crummy stereo album versions heard on oldies radio today. Maybe you can stay around a while if the WEA police will leave you alone.
