An audiovisual manifesto filmed over the course of 4 years and 4 continents, FIRST EARTH makes the case that earthen homes are the healthiest housing in the world; and that since it still takes a village to raise a healthy child, it is incumbent upon us to transform our suburban sprawl into eco-villages, a new North American dream.

i found this particular segment of this documentary SO uplifting and inspiring. it's been a long time since i have felt anything akin to actual admiration or pride in the human species and the narrative of this piece really slapped me as i listened to the speaker and viewed the images of these beautiful structures, the generosity of people who ARE willing to share their space in these ways...this made my day, nay, my week.

But there are many factors that make up a thriving community, that is why in the video you see the evolution of the built environment, it's the evidence of the evolution of individual & community consciousness; taking responsibility for being conscious beings; recognizing connectivity; expressing empathy.

What if we were to make the city just a center for commerce, education, and entertainment? If we did not waste space in the small city on habitats but instead live outside the city proper and we come in to do business and congregate together. The city would end up being smaller, cleaner and nore comfortable for our visits, then we would return home a few miles away ti our little homesteads.
