D-A-D gave an excellent live performance at "Grøn Koncert", in Næstved on Saturday the 24'th of July 2010.

I have recently bought the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5V, and took it with me the day of the concert.

This video is shoot by that camera, and should give you guys a good impression of what to expect from it.

The sound quality, or lack of same, is due to the dumb placement of the stereo microphones. They are located on the top of the housing, to the leftmost. I have a tendency to place my left index-finger at that exact location. Thats why the sound is weird.

If you listen carefully, you are able to hear when I am moving my finger, as the sound gets higher.

I hope you will find the video usefull.

  • Thank you for posting this :)

I'm thinking of buying this camera... Did you use the zoom to it's full capacity?

Also... Does it ever get blurry when using the zoom function? Some cameras take a while to focus... looks okay based on this video...

    Do you have any complaints?

  • @MuzikChik06

    You're welcome! :D

Yes I used the full capacity og the zoom function.

To get an idea of, just how much I'm zooming in, look at the guy's camera at 0:15.

His camera doesn't look like it has a wide angle lens, and still his screen is showing a lot more of the concert.

It's pretty quick to focus, but CAN loose it sometimes.

    No complaints so far! :D

  • @MuzikChik06 I got this camera. Stereo sound recording sucks. Video is perfect, but sound is broken - hear for example after 0:10 the camera couldn't decide which channel should be recorded, often jumps very sharp from right to center, no moderate change. Those jumps are very disturbing when recording concerts. Hugs!

I haven't actually filmed long enough to tell you how long a full battery will last. But my guess would be 30-45 minutes. According to sony's homepage. There are no limitations to the nonstop recording. As to how many minutes there can be stuffed onto a 16GB SDHC card, I can't tell you but it is possible to find the information elsewhere on the Internet..

  • @DocSommer

PS: Can you tell me how long the battery life is during filming? Next question is the recording time in full HD on a, let's say 16GB sdhc card and if there's any limitations like max. 10 minutes nonstop recording? thx

  • looks great and surpringsingly steady - I think the autofocus does also work quite well in this situation. The sound isn't really enjoyable but I usually use discrete recordings and match those with the video during editing. Since I met too many security guys during filming concerts I'm looking for a decent and stealthy alternative. Usually no one cares about people with small cameras, that's why I'm looking for an alternative in case I like to film without permission again^^
