New Release: Lot 179 & 190

Lot 190 2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine we made with one of our partner wine groups, the same that brought us wines such as Lot 172 Atlas Peak Cabernet and Lot 125 Carneros Pinot Noir, amongst many others. Lot 190 has the classic Alexander Valley profile, showing peppery notes and purple fruit with a light cassis perfume. Fleshy, balanced, and ripe with terrific structure, this wine has come around nicely in the bottle. Richly fruited and super smooth in the mid-palate, Lot 190 is a testament to winemaker Sam's blending capability. Originally priced at $25 -- $30 a bottle (though, in all fairness, I have to admit to seeing this wine discounted to $20 lately), Lot 190 can be yours today for the low, low price of ... $13. Yeehaw

Lot 179 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet/Syrah blend , a profound wine with gorgeous color, aromatics, and structure. It comes with a long life ahead of it and pedigree behind it, having scored 91 and 93 points from Parker in 2004 and 2005, respectively (not sure why the 2006 was never reviewed). One of their winemakers noted to us (with proper irony, of course) that the 2007 was the finest Black and Blue they have ever made (which is not surprising given the terrific 2007 vintage). The inspiration behind this wine is an effort to achieve a balanced-yet-dynamic tension between the Syrah and the Cabernet. The 2007 does that in spades.
