Outside the church, Pastor Joel Osteen has also found success as the author of best-selling books like Your Best Life Now and Every Day a Friday. Now, he says he lives off book royalties and no longer takes a salary from his church. Watch as he explains why he makes no apologies for his wealth and how he chooses to celebrate God's blessings.

  • he didnt say "no longer" takes a salary he says that he DOES NOT take a salary from the church.

  • why doesn't he take his book selling profits and send out missionaries out to share the gospel??

this is what God commanded us to do. hmmm...????

  • should follow Jesus Christ and put NO MAN before him.

  • Joel I love listening to your sermons. And you should not apologize for your wealth. You spread the word of God so beautifully and not many are capable of that. I don't have a lot of money and I can't contribute to your work. But I get your daily emails and see you on TV and will follow you as long as you are out there.l

  • THESES SHEEP HERDERS ARE GOOD ;)

  • @JoshFazzz agreed, i've never heard osteen say If you have more money, you'll be happier, or etc. He doesn't even take a salary from the ministry, and makes a living from his books, nothing wrong w/ that, ppl make a big deal because he's a pastor. If he was making his money selling cook books, and living well, they wouldn't make a big deal. So far, he has never done anything wrong since he started pastoring, in terms of breaking the law, or stealing money from the ministry, or whatever.

  • only from books you say......? hmm....

  • The bible doesn't say that its wrong to be rich. Abraham was rich in Gold, silver, and cattle. He had multiple streams of income. So if cattle was down, he had silver and gold. And if silver was down too, gold never loses its value. If Osteen isn't taking a salary from the church, and making money off his books, thats totally legitimate. The ministry doesn't pay for the books. So that income is apart from the church income. I wouldn't apologize either. God doesnt say he wants us to be broke.

  • True, life should not be about money. But still missed it: life should not just be a blessing to others, it should be about glorifying God

  • Right or wrong he sticks to his word... thank you Joel!
