==Disclaimer==
My computer is unimaginably terrible, so it didn't encode the video completely smooth. This affects a couple parts of the boss fight, which is the most important part, but you can still see what's going on I think. Also the first Paranoia form was sped up for some reason.
This is a test segment from the New Game speedrun I am planning to do. This run won't be using warps (like the Succubus glitch) in case you were wondering why I fight Paranoia.
Basically, this is the strategy I came up with for this fight, but I'm not sure if it's the best. One thing that I didn't do in this run that I normally do is make better use of him kicking down to attack, it's generally an opportunity to get in a couple free Ukoback hits (since he recoils a lot more than usual after the attack), but I didn't go for it for some reason.
On the little Paranoia, I used jumping Ukobacks instead of backdash canceling them because backdash canceling would make the Ukobacks come out too fast and end up with soma doing a Cutall attack. Because of that and the fact that the Ukoback hit speed is already maxed out just with jumping Ukobacks, there's not a need for backdash canceling.
The play is a little sloppier than usual, but that's mainly apparent after the boss fight, where I messed up getting down quickly from the room. Normally I can slide off the second ledge, land between the Malachi, then as I fall through the chandelier, hit the left one to boost myself over to the door. I did not do that this time, and it's pretty terrible what I actually did, so I'll not do that next time (but this was just a test segment so I didn't restart).
Any suggestions for speeding up this fight would be appreciated. A couple of things to consider are that I don't really have access to many souls, and the Bhuj is the best weapon available at the time. Here is a map of the route that I take:

So based on where I am and have been, if you know of any good souls that are on that path, or near it, comment about it and I'll try to work it in. An additional thing to consider is MP usage. Since this run is all about speed, I can't be going back to the village to restock after each fight, so something that is efficient with MP is necessary. So while something like Mandragora would do more damage each hit, it uses 3x the MP of Ukoback, so wouldn't pay off in the end.
Sorry for the DS movement in some sections, I don't have a great setup for the DS (it's just resting on a PSP game case), so it moved a little in a few parts.
Looks cool. I'm just about to kill paranoia for the first time. (just picked up the game this week).
How did you get the ukoback shorthopping on the first part to come out so fast? Is there an advanced tech I don't know about?

If you only hit the jump button for a fraction of a second, Soma will do a very short hop like I did, From there, just hold up and hit attack. I have my buttons changed around a bit to help with this.
Jump = Y, Attack = X, so I just flick my thumb to the side repeatedly to do fast shorthop attacks.
This works for all bullet souls (but most have a limit on how many can be out at once) and the smaller weapons, since they cancel the animation when you hit the ground.
