Chief Military Correspondent for The New York Times Michael R. Gordon is one of the nations preeminent experts on national security. Reporting from Iraq, Afghanistan, the Balkans, the horn of Africa and other trouble spots, Gordon writes exclusive stories and analysis that are often front-page news.

He was at Tora Bora when Osama bin Laden made his escape. He was in Chechnya when the Russian Army leveled Grozny. During the early stages of the Iraq war, he was the only newspaper correspondent embedded with the allied land war command, a position that gave him an unparalleled view of the planning and execution of the war plan.

Gordon has written extensively about a range of issues, from weapons proliferation and global security challenges to Al Qaeda and the war on terror. He co-authored the national bestseller, Cobra II: The Inside Story of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq, which has shaped the debate about the Bush Administrations decision-making. The Economist described the book as magisterial. Foreign Affairs dubbed The Generals War the single best volume on the Persian Gulf War. He reported and wrote the award-winning documentary, Deadlock: Russias Forgotten War, for CNN Presents and won the George Polk Award for his articles on Libyas chemical weapons program.

Gordon has been a guest on many programs including Meet the Press, Charlie Rose, Anderson Cooper 360° and The Daily Show. He is currently at work on a new book about the Surge and the United States continuing struggle to bring stability to Iraq.
