Rev did take a slight hit in quality from the problems that occurred in development. Another studio was originally developing the game (in realtime 3d) and wasn't doing a good job. So they were fired, and the project moved to Ubisoft, and the Rev team started from scrap. They managed to build the most technically advanced and largest of the point and click Myst games in 2 years. Some things just didn't get as polished as they (or us) would have liked.
I was always kinda irritated by this fly-over, because of all the missing stuff. At first, I only noticed the waterwheels were gone. Then, I realized the whole monastery with the temple and the pool and both Memory Chambers and ALL that wasn't there. Plus, at just past 0:13, as the water appears over a little out-jut in the bottom left corner, the perspective gives the impression that the ground just drops a loooong way from that grass down to the water, which looks really strange.
