Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), an incurable congenital disease that is robbing my beautiful child of health and happiness.

For more information about TSC, see:

I'm very sorry I'm not better at this. Windows Movie Maker is buggiest program I've worked with since the 5 1/4" floppy disk. It crashed every three minutes while making this video. And the video recording of the dulcimer was done on a really cheap mobile phone camera.

The dulcimer is a very old poplar three-string from West Virginia, partially restored. Not all of the feetboard is useable, but I do like the sound.

  • Richard,

Your video is quite moving in its honesty and simplicity. I often read your posts on the list serve and think you are both well versed and professional. Avery is so gorgeous and looks quite happy. I am thrilled to put a face to the name. --Andie (mom to Lizzie 5 1/2 TSC)

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • Hey mate. Just browsing your dulcimer videos, and this one is, indeed, moving. Best wishes to both of you. It doesn't exactly compare, but my partner has cystic fibrosis (in fact she's in hospital right now), so I do know a little about how heartwrenching it is to watch someone you love battle a disease that they'll never recover from. Must be ten times harder with a child. Anyway, that's all a bit of a ramble, but I wanted you to know that the video touched me.
