At least the Ashton canal is back on the navigable waterways map. Got my first cheery wave of the season from some narrowboaters today - always uplifting. When I was a kid catching sticklebacks it was a neglected dead end. The Canada geese that have now colonised it can be a bit threatening at this time of year when they've little ones to guard, but I've learned that it's mostly bluff.

Wally is indeed the word! My sandwiches escaped damage, but the camera LCD screen sustained a tiny scratch. Hope it will escape notice if I decide to return it.
