Well, in most metro stations in Athens centre except this one, a "classy" style was not intended; exhibits on display and protected by glass are archealogical findings discovered on the site during excavation stage! That's the main reason why Salonica's metro construction is taking too long: archaelogists are too busy with all the findings being discovered!

The statues shown at the beginning and the frieze sculptures in the platforms area are actually replicas of the original Parthenon sculptures most of whom are kept in the British Museum.
The woman shown on a giant post in one platform is Melina Mercouri, Culture Minister in the 80's and 90's that asked for the return of these sculptures.

metro in madrid, london, barcelona are very dirty, miserly and dark. in Athens u enjoy use metro.....
