This is an instructional film to show that an F6F can be launched from an aircraft carrier with a full fuel load and various combinations of ordnance. It is suggested that this film be watched in high quality so the in-flight messages can be clearly seen. Note that as the loads increase, different procedures are used for the launch (i.e. canopy closed, flaps extended incrementally etc.) All launches were made from the default spawn point on the carrier's deck (the spawn furthest forward). Although it's not shown, trim settings are also changed for each configuration. The trim settings used in this film are listed below. Don't consider these settings as set in stone. Try them and tailor them to your personal preference.

Trim abbreviations: RR - Right Rudder, NU - Nose Up (elevator),

100% fuel, guns only: 16 RR, 14 NU
100% fuel, 150gal. DT (drop tank): 16 RR, 18 NU
100% fuel, 150gal. DT, 6 HVAR: 20 RR, 18 NU
100% fuel, 2 250lb GP, 6 HVAR: 18 RR, 18 NU

As you can see in the film, the aircraft gets quite close to the water and is very unstable. This is to be expected when launching from a stationary carrier. Here are some tips for keeping the aircraft out of the water. Apply some back pressure on the stick BEFORE leaving the deck. Raise the landing gear as soon as the wheels leave the deck. When the aircraft leaves the deck, it will want to roll to the left. DO NOT correct the roll with the ailerons. A little aileron is OK, but when the aircraft rolls left, correct with a little more right rudder. It is also suggested that you don't try to keep the wings level, simply continue the left bank, but keep it a shallow left bank until your airspeed increases.
